The fantasy of one day having a Woodie Wagon began for this owner around 1964. I saw a dilapidated mess of a wooden car clearly beyond hope behind an old repair shop, and I felt sad that something so beautiful and unusual could end up this way. Fast forward to 1980, and a subscription to The Woodie Times magazine. There were others who felt the same way! After becoming a subscriber and seeking information over the years that documented the history of the rare wooden bodied cars, the day finally came to acquire one of my own. It took 2 years, various trips and test drives before this beautiful 1948 Oldsmobile entered the picture. As it was, the seller/restorer and I had phone conversations and many emails during that period. A sense of trust was built and The Woodie Wagon arrived in Asheville , previously sight unseen. It was the right choice. Our favorite moments in The Woodie Wagon are when children of all ages do a double take; a jaw drop; or just point, scream and clap their hands when they see this car. The awareness of the existence of wooden cars is being carried on to their generation in a small but impressive way…. just as it should be. Please be my special guests for a truly memorable and unique ride in Asheville , my favorite town!
